It is particularly effective in conjunction with a polarizing filter, controlling a potentially bluish-gray veil and for increasing color saturation, e.g. to capture fabulously vivid scenery during the colorful autumn season. The use of color reversal film is recommended, because the automatic correction applied by printers to color negatives can erroneously interpret the desired effect as a color cast and reduce it by filtering it out.
