CCD

Stands for Charged Coupled Device. This is the light sensor behind the lens of you camera that records the image when you take a photograph. It consists of a grid of millions of tiny light sensors, one for each pixel of the image. The size of the CCD is measured in megapixels, and the higher the megapixel rating the better the image resolution of the CCD.
